Super Computer With Android Smartphone !
The poet said, 'Small sand particle is the point of water, it makes the continent undisturbed' - that is, it is possible to do something bigger than small contributions. Using this basic principle, the world's leading technology company IBM has taken a new welfare project, which will create more powerful supercomputing networks with the use of Android smartphones without the use of unused functionality.
The strategy of this
project is very simple. Many Android
smartphones will be connected to this network. When
the owners of the phones do not do any work on the phone, that means the
devices will be idle, the phones will share their processing power from the IBM
network connected, and in this way many devices will be consolidated as
supercomputer. The
computer will also be used on this network.
This is a huge Citizen Science project, which is managed by IBM. In order to fight childhood cancer, scientists call on Android smartphone owners to "donate" some of their processing power to the phone.
Users need to download a mobile app to help by decoding their Android phone's processing power. Since the establishment of the World Community Grid in 2004 by IBM, 700,000 volunteers have helped in complex computing such a way. These include Ebola, Zika, Tuberculosis and HIV AIDS research.
Initially, only the computer's processing capabilities are used on this network, but for some years Android phones have also been used.
Currently it is working with six types of childhood cancer, among which one of the brain tumor, liver and bone cancer is one.
To use this app you have to have at least 90% charge and Wi-Fi connected on your phone. Juan Hindo, Project Director of IBM Corporate Citizen Division, said this application will not do anything unnecessarily.
He also said that researchers are working to get childhood cancer remedies and warning messages through simulation tool.
Virtual super computer
There are many computers needed to run this research, but researchers can only use a super computer at certain times. Hindoos need to run millions of simulations in each test.
That's why research is almost time-consuming and expensive because it's almost impossible to do in the laboratory.
After installing this particular app of IBM, when your phone has unused computing power, this app can use your phone for these calculations. Then if you do any work on the phone, for example, start writing a message, then the app will take a break. As a result, there will be no obstacles in your work.
Hindo estimates that this system completes one or two million counters per day.
This technology has previously been used to detect the causes of childhood cancer in neuroblastoma. Worked around 200,000 volunteers to improve its healthcare system.
In the research, it has given them the opportunity to use a virtual super computer so that a common citizen is doing research and contributing to the development of science, he said.
Because of the Apple App Platform framework, this networked computing system is not currently on iOS device.
The community grid system scientists can use free of charge, but the condition is that their research results will be made open to the public and access to other scientists will be used.
